Police collecting cassettes of pro-LTTE speeches by Vaiko

Intelligence officials are taking steps to collect the audio and video cassettes of the speeches made by MDMK leader Vaiko and his party colleagues during the past one year at various places, police sources said in Madurai.

Vaiko had reportedly made pro-LTTE speeches not only in public meetings, but also in meetings organised by various Tamil organisations, literary societies and pro-LTTE outfits, a top police official said.

"Officials are also collecting details about the organisers of meetings addressed by Vaiko in the past one year," he said.

The MDMK general council meeting held at Erode recently had passed resolutions supporting the LTTE, which is banned by India, and their demands.

Meanwhile, police have been asked to keep strict vigil at important localities following reports that untoward incidents could take place in case Vaiko and his supporters were arrested, he added.
