Pandit Ravi Shankar gets fourth Grammy nomination

Sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar has been nominated for this year's Grammy awards for his live recording Full Circle/Carnegie Hall 2000 in the 'Best World Music Album' category.

This is the fourth time the 81-year-old has been nominated for the music world's top award.

Full Circle, which was recorded at New York's Carnegie Hall in October 2000, features Shankar's rendering of the formal night raga Kaushi Kanhara and the more romantic Mishra Gara, a press release said on Tuesday.

His daughter and disciple, Anoushka, accompanies him in the album, it said.

This year's awards, the 44th, will be given in Los Angeles on February 27.

Shankar is a recipient of the prestigious Magsaysay award and Padma Vibhushan and Desikottam titles.

He has also been conferred with an honorary knighthood by the Queen of England.
