Five file nominations for LS by-poll in Tripura

Former chief minister Sudhir Ranjan Majumdar was among the three persons who filed their nominations on the last day on Thursday for the February 21 Lok Sabha by-poll in West Tripura constituency.

Election office sources said, besides Majumder, who filed his papers as a Trinamul Congress candidate, others in the fray are Manik Deb (Congress) and Kamaljit Singh (NCP).

Earlier, Left Front candidate, Khagen Das, who is a sitting Rajya Sabha MP, and an independent B Debnath filed their documents.

The seat fell vacant following the death of the CPI-M's Samar Chowdhuri.
