Thirty-five arrested for attack on Sabarmati Express

At least 35 people were arrested on Wednesday in connection with the attack on the Sabarmati Express at Godhra railway station in Gujarat.

Two companies of the Rapid Action Force and one company of the State Reserve Police were deployed at Godhra to guard against further outbreak of violence.

Police officers from Baroda and a team of doctors rushed to Godhra to provide medical help and other assistance to the affected people.

Chief Minister Narendra Modi, Health Minister Ashok Bhatt, Minister of State for Home Gordhan Zadafia, Minister of State for Civil Defence Bhupendra Lakhawala and other senior officials have rushed to the spot.

Two senior officers have been appointed to investigate the incident.
