'A masterstroke by the Prime Minister'

Date: Fri, 09 Aug 2002 14:05:00 +0500
Subject: Pumps Issue: Parliament Paralysed for Fifth Day

Shame on our Rajya Sabha members, there is a drought in the country and they are stalling the proceedings of the house for the allotment of petrol pumps. Review all the allotments in the last 52 years, 90% of them would have gone to people who have political patronage. This is the way we are, so stop this tamasha and get down to some work. The speaker should not just adjourn the house, she/he must use their powers to bring order in the house. So it is a nice long weekend for our MPs.

Ram Naik should go. Crores of rupees are just going down the drain. We know the oppos' they are the crooks of the first grades-you have the charawalla, cyclewallas, and ask them they have the max crooks of our society, But Ram Naik has to just go. He has made hell of the portfolio. He should retire from public life. We know he is honest, but he had no control on all these. Wah! we Indians have nothing more except these ghaswallas telling us- CongiLaloos'.

I must say this is a masterstroke by the Prime Minister. A few common people will suffer but this will certainly expose the Congress leaders.Let them handle their disgruntled kith and kin now.

Subject: Bihar Cops to Arrest Makers of T V Serial on Laloo

This proves the inefficient & uneducated pattern of the people complaining about it... the serial is just for entertainment...& it has never mentioned Laloo & his family ..... there's a quote in Hindi _ chor ke dhadhi mein tinka ... it's the same thing here........Movers & Shakers has many times quoted directly on actors & politicians, much bigger politicians than Laloo. But no one complained. All the things picturised in the serial are imaginary...so its a foolish attempt to close this serial. It never says it has been inspired by Laloo & his family. If this serial is stopped it will be an offence to democratic norms. Laloo has done the similar thing in the case of Film School. It's a totally foolish act.

I am so happy some people are courageous enough to stand up and point out the corruption in Bihar and the plight of the common Bihari. Bihar can never recover as long as Lallu Prasad is alive.

The serial maker should just give a screen showing that this is a fiction and have no consequences with any person living or dead. The serial is not tarnishing the image of Bihar no Laloo. it is showing the facts. I am with Adhikari Brothers for bringing out such a serial.

Subject: BJP Lists Oppn Leaders Who Recommended Allotment

It's a clear cut indication that BJP has been involved in a major scandal of the century with just a mere 3-4 years of baseless rule in the post-independent India. Where was the BJP when Congress allotted petrol pumps in the past? Why didn't it open its dirty mouth then? Why did the BJP question the Congress's status now, after 20 years? All of a sudden, saying that they did this because Cong did it in the past is a shame on the ruling party to talk in such a senseless and undiplomatic manner. This is a clear indication that the ruling government lost its credentials to sit on the throne anymore.

Subject: BJP Lists Oppn Leaders Who Recommended Allotment

This opposition is not only foolish but also immature in politics. When all are thieves, how one group challenge another group, specially when the power is in the hand of other group with all past documents in their official records? It is easy to deny the past misdeeds by the opposition like communists/SP/RJD etc who were never the part of the Govt. anytime. But how is the Congress challenging this subject when long 40 years + they have ruled uninterrupted with so much favouritism, which the present govt. will now dig out one by one state-wise over a long period of time each following day. Ist day they have disclosed the assorted one with the mimic protest by the Manmohan &Vohra.Shinde who is jumping to be the vice-president ,Vyas & others kept their cool intact and must be cursing the bloody Dasmunshi for this big blunder just when JK & Gujarat polls are around the corner. Our opposition is so weak in their game of one up-man-ship(except stalling the Parliament/Rajyasabha and "feel-good factor" ) that it will be next to impossible to dislodge this govt. in near future. Cry/shout/stalling the parliament does not attract even the Press /TV coverage that it used to earlier. The sooner these parties take some innovative approach of agitation against govt. which people will take seriously, the better their chances of regaining a political upper hand in Delhi. Otherwise they will have to be satisfied with ruling states with their cast/creed/regional approach. but Dilli will be very dur.

Subject: BJP Constitutes Gujarat Election Committee

I am not a political person. But as an engineer from IIT, Kharagpur I am very much interested in the well being of my motherland. It is a strange situation that there is opposition to elections in Gujrat. In reality there are troubles in many states of India , where elections have been taking place. No one objected to that. In Gujrat the trouble started with the burning of the inocent travellers in the train. It was very cruel act, which was very likely to cause a reaction. Unfortunate things happened in which hundreds of Muslims, Hindus, Christians, sikhs, Jains etc died. It is not good. In any case we are all Indians. So I should say that hundreds of inocent indians died. Look at the Western world, if one person dies, they make a lot of hue and cry. They do not allow destruction of their countries. In Afganistan not only tens of thousands of Afgans were killed, but also the country was badly damaged. US does not allow to happen this on their own soil. Let us go back and see the past happenings. Salman Rushdie wrote the book in London and the Muslim community in Maharshtra and Gujrat burnt India in which hundreds of inocent people died. Do we have no respect for our fellow country men and our country. Are we ready to destroy ourselves, due to anything happening any where in the world? What is needed is the correct teaching to the people all over the country and not stopping the elections in Gujrat or Jammu & Kashmir or Nagaland or any other part of the country. We must remember that about 40 crore Indians go to bed without a proper meal. It is a very sad situation. No one is even thinking of those people. Unfortunately Indian politicians are not able to see anything other than chair, money and power. In the Parliament there is no work. Only fights on one pretext or the other. It is not good. Please learn from the Western World. When the question of the country comes, they rise above the party politics or hunger for power.

Subject: EU Delegation Visit to J&K 'Significant': Diplomat

If some individual politician or a group of them from outside India visit Kashmir, it does not mean that Kashmir has become an international issue. Kashmir is internal matter of India, India is democracy and elections come and go as it happens in any other country. The politicians from outside India think that they are somebody special. This is not true.

Subject: EU Delegation Visit to J&K 'Significant': Diplomat

I wish to express my resentment over the EU visit to Kashmir valley. Thanks to the sabre rattling of the government, we have succeeded in making the Kashmir issue an international one. For all these years, this issue was a local one. Lack of political will , lethargic foreign policies and non patriotic and non nationalistic leaders have bought the credibility of this great country to the crossroads. It seems like Pakistan , wanted this to happen. We have internationalised this issue, something Pakistan has been trying to do for long. It would be black day in Indian history , if outside intervention is sought to resolve this issue. The Indian government should not allow outside interference in Kashmir process. They should instead try in resettling the Kashmiri Hindus, who have been displaced and living in misery and poverty. Population resettlement and the right to bear arms should be given to Kashmiris to defend themselves against terrorists.

Subject: Kargil conflict underlined army shortcomings: US Report

This is a welcome report. Especially the consideration by the international community that Pakistan was the up-front aggressor in the whole Kargil episode. I personally feel reports like these which give a very true and clear picture about the problems created by Pakistan should be distributed across the world (especially the US). Good piece of news gathered by Rediff.

This is also Musharaff's game to show the world that Pakistan too is suffering from terrorism and to weaken the Indian side.
