Srinagar SP escapes attempt on life

Mukhtar Ahmad in Srinagar

Mukesh Singh, superintendent of police, Srinagar (south), escaped an attempt on his life on Thursday evening.

Police sources said militants attacked the motorcade of Singh with hand grenades, which missed Singh's car but hit the escort vehicle seriously injuring five policemen.

The injured were shifted to a local hospital in Srinagar.
