Gujarat Cabinet defers decision on dissolution of assembly

The crucial meeting of the Gujarat Cabinet on Wednesday deferred a decision on the dissolution of the state Assembly and holding of election.

Agriculture minister and official spokesman of the Cabinet, Purushottam Rupala, said after the hour-long meeting that the issue of dissolution of the assembly and holding of polls was not discussed.

He said the Cabinet discussed security and arrangements for the secondary and higher secondary examinations in the context of a call for boycott by Muslim students.

The meeting decided on provision of security in buses carrying students and at the examination centres. Video cameras would be installed in examination centres as part of security arrangements, he added.
