Jaitley rushes to Gandhinagar
to meet Narendra Modi

In the backdrop of growing pressure on the Bharatiya Janata Party from some of its key allies, including the Telugu Desam Party, to remove Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, Union Law Minister Arun Jaitley rushed to Gandhinagar on Thursday night to meet Modi.

Jaitley, who is understood to have been deputed by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, held a one-on-one meeting with the chief minister. The two later had dinner together, official sources said.

Jaitley will accompany Modi to Goa on Friday, where the BJP national executive will discuss the Gujarat chief minister's fate.
