Hindu families flee Bangladesh

At least four Hindu families from Bangladesh have crossed over to India and 45 more are waiting to do so.

A feeling of insecurity has gripped minorities following incidents of violence against them after the new four-party alliance government, comprising mostly fundamentalists, came to power early this month, official sources said.

Fundamentalist elements close to the government headed by Bangladesh Nationalist Party chief Khaleda Zia began mounting pressure on minorities during the election campaign and several incidents of violence against the Hindus were reported.
