Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Thursday said security around the disputed structure in Ayodhya should tightened.
There was some apprehension that security in the area was slack, Vajpayee told reporters in Madras when asked about Wednesday's incident of VHP activists entering the sanctum-sanctorum of the make-shift Ram temple.
The temple stands on the site where Babri Masjid stood before it was pulled down by Hindu zealots on December 6, 1992.
There were no VHP volunteer inside the temple now, Vajpayee said before leaving for New Delhi in a special Indian Air Force plane after attending BJP president Jana Krishnamurthy's son's marriage.
Asked about India's relationship with Pakistan in the light of the developments in Afghanisthan, he said there was "no proposal to have formal talks with Pakistan."
The prime minister was accompanied by Union Home Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani.
