Decision on Manipur in a
day or two: Fernandes

Samata Party president George Fernandes on Thursday said various options, including imposition of President's rule, were being discussed to end the political uncertainty in Manipur and a solution may be in place in a day or two.

"Other options include an alternative government or restoration of Samata government back in power. The stalemate will be resolved in a day or two as we cannot wait till May 28," Fernandes told reporters in Navi Mumbai, where he inaugurated the annual convention of Konkan Railway Corporation Employees Union.

"The problem has to be sorted out fast in the interest of the people of Manipur," the former defence minister said, and added that the fall of the Samata Party-led government in Manipur was an unfortunate development.

"The BJP leadership told me that their people in Manipur acted on their own," Fernandes said.
