Tarashankar Sahay in New Delhi

Parliament was adjourned on Friday afternoon and will reconvene on April 16.

Earlier, the Lok Sabha was adjourned till 1200 hours by Speaker G M C Balayogi soon after it convened at 1100 hours, as Opposition members shouted anti-government slogans.

The furore began when senior Congress member Buta Singh asked the Speaker, " Choron ke khilaf ab action kyon nahi liya gaya hai?"

Bharatiya Janata Party members shouted back, pointing out that the Congress was corrupt to the core and referred to the Central Bureau of Investigation case against Vincent George. The Speaker did not wait long but adjourned the House till 1200 hours.

The list of business by the House included moving the Energy Conservation Bill 2000 and discussion of the farmers' plight and the stock market crash.

The Rajya Sabha had also been adjourned till 1200 hours by Chairman Krishna Kant following the pandemonium by Opposition members over the defence deals scandal.
