Indefinite curfew reimposed
in Imphal East, West

Indefinite curfew was reimposed in Manipur's Imphal East and West districts on Monday afternoon after an eight-hour relaxation in view of the prevailing tense situation following the anti-ceasefire agitation in the state, according to official sources.

People came out in large numbers during the eight-hour curfew relaxation period from 0500 hours (IST) in both the districts to purchase essential items, they said.

Banks operated for four hours from 0900 hours while employees attended offices up to 1300 hours, the sources said.

Meanwhile, the government had closed all educational institutions throughout Manipur for one week from Monday in view of the tense situation in the state, the sources said.

In Thoubal district, curfew was relaxed for 13 hours from 0500 hours.
