The Kerala train mishap

Track restoration to take time

The Southern Railway on Saturday said that rail traffic on the Madras and Calicut sectors, affected by the train accident at Kadalundi, would take time to restore.

A Railway spokesman told PTI in Trivandrum, "There is no chance of running trains in the sector between Shoranur and Calicut immediately."

It would take at least a few days to say when traffic on the route would be restored, he added.

Salvage work was on at the moment and only after that would work on track restoration commence, he said.
