Pak to release 25 Indian
civilian prisoners

President Pervez Musharraf has ordered the release of 25 Indian civilian prisoners lodged in Pakistani jails, official sources said.

Interior Ministry officials have been directed to bring to the president the cases of 25 Indian prisoners for remission of their jail sentences, the sources said.

Musharraf had, some days back, ordered a nationwide search for Indian prisoners of war in Pakistani jails. The search, however, yielded nothing, officials said.

During his recent visit to India for a summit meeting with Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Musharraf was handed over a list of 54 Indian POWs suspected to languishing in Pakistani jails.
