Children, youths join anti-ceasefire agitation

Hundreds of children and youths on bicycles joined the anti-ceasefire protests in Manipur on Friday.

Security forces have stepped up patrolling to prevent any untoward incident, official sources said.

School children joined sit-in protests in several parts of the state, including Keithelashangbi, Heinoubon, Singjamei, Pishum Oinam Leikai, Wangkhei Mehoupham Lampak and Keisamthong, senior state officials said.

Most protests were reported from places where prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPc were in force.

Hundreds of students took out a bicycle rally in Thoubal district, reports said.

About 70 Nagas from Moirangkhong Kabuikhul joined a relay hunger strike at Yaiskul area. The relay strike will continue up to July 31.
