Trinamool to support even if Centre imposes 356 in TN: Mamata

Trinamool Congress Chairperson Mamata Banerjee on Monday said her party would extend full support to the Centre even if it imposed Article 356 in Tamil Nadu.

The TC chief on Sunday extended support to any decision that the Vajpayee government might take in dealing with the situation.

Her statement assumes significance in the wake of speculation about TC's possible return to the National Democratic Alliance.

The Trinamool chief said party Chief Whip Sudip Bandopadhyay was already in New Delhi and informed NDA Convenor George Fernandes of TC's decision. Banerjee had described Karunanidhi's arrest as unconstitutional and biased.
