The police have denied that Balsara had been summoned to the commissionerate in connection with the Gulshan Kumar murder case.
They termed as 'incorrect' newspaper reports which suggested that he was summoned by police for a briefing in this case.
"Balsara had been receiving threats from certain persons and had come to the police headquarters on June 26 to seek police protection. But before meeting any officer, he went to a toilet in the commissionerate and collapsed there," police
said in their report to the MSHRC.
"A constable who saw Balsara lying unconscious in the toilet reported the matter to the higher-ups and Balsara was taken to G T Hospital where he was declared dead before admission," the report said.
The police have send MSHRC a copy of the post-mortem report. But the doctor, who conducted the post-mortem, has reserved his opinion. He shall disclose the cause of Balsara's death only after receiving the chemical analysis report of the viscera and histopathological examination report, police said.
