Militants fire grenades in Baramullah, Srinagar under security blanket

Three rifle grenades were fired in north Baramullah on Friday morning even as the army and paramilitary troops encircled the Bakshi stadium in Srinagar where the main Republic Day function will be held.

A curfew-like situation prevails in Srinagar city, with not a soul visible on the deserted streets o on Friday morning.

Troops were seen patrolling the city in full battle gear. All the roads leading to the stadium have been blocked by the security forces with parked trucks and other vehicles.

Militants this morning fired three rifle grenades in Baramullah, which exploded near a bridge and main chowk without causing any injuries.
