Abdullah for attack on
ultras' camps in Pak: PTI

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah Wednesday said India should take steps to attack and destroy terrorist camps in Pakistan if the peace process in the state failed.

''If the peace process fails, the only solution lies in destruction of the training camps in Pakistan,'' Abdullah told reporters after attending the golden jubilee celebrations of the Election Commission in New Delhi.

Lashing out at Islamabad for sabotaging the peace initiative taken by the Vajpayee Government, he said, ''We have to tell the United Nations and the entire world that while the government is all prepared for peace, Pakistan-sponsored terrorists are out to subvert it and kill innocent people.''

Condemning the attempt to storm Srinagar airport, the chief minister said New Delhi has to ''strongly tell Islamabad that this is not acceptable. This will not be tolerated''.

On whether he would favour another extension of the ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir beyond Republic Day, Abdullah said he would convey his feelings to Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and other senior central leaders.

He said despite peace overtures, certain terrorist groups backed by Pakistan, were continuing with violence as terrorism was their ''bread and butter''.

Abdullah, who arrived in New Delhi on Tuesday, said he would meet Home Minister L K Advani and Defence Minister George Fernandes besides the prime minister to discuss the ground situation in the state.
