Criminal complaints against four
Ahmedabad builders lodged

The complaints have been filed against Girish Patel, Vinubhai Patel, Kantilal Patel, Bharat Desai and Bhadresh Trivedi and Amit Pothia, builders of Surbhi, Maruti, Vidyalaxmi and Sundarvan apartments, according to a release issued by the police on Thursday.

The complainants have charged them with using inferior quality materials and flouting norms in the construction of the buildings.

The police have begun investigation into the matter on the basis of the complaints, it added.

Meanwhile, Indian Railways announced in New Delhi it would run four special trains from Ahmedabad on Thursday to evacuate the quake victims and their relatives from affected areas.

These trains will go to Howrah, Muzaffarpur (Bihar), Bombay Central and Delhi.

In addition, a special goods train, carrying 30 earth moving machines, including 18 bull-dozers, was expected to leave Delhi Cantonment Station on Thursday night for the affected areas. These machines have been provided by the Government of the National Capital Region of Delhi.

The Railways have also rushed three medical relief vans fully equipped with medicines, equipment and a team each of medical and para-medical personnel to Gandhidham and nearby areas, it added.
