BJP splits in Chhattisgarh

The Bharatiya Janata Party in Chhattisgarh has suffered a severe setback with 12 of its 36 legislators forming a new party under the leadership of Tarun Chatterjee.

Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Rajendra Prasad Shukla, who belongs to the Congress, has granted recognition to the Chhattisgarh Vikas Party in the House.

The legislators who have quit the BJP to form the CVP are: Chatterjee, Haridas Bharadwaj, Ganguram Baghel, Madan Singh Dheria, Paresh Bagborah, Dr Sharkjeet Naik, Premsingh Sidar, Shyama Dhurve, Rane Ratnamal, Lokendra Yadav, Dr Sohanlal and Vikram Bhagat.
