"We are in a position to supply CNG to all vehicle owners who have filed affidavits before the Supreme Court," Petroleum Minister Ram Naik told reporters after a meeting with Chief Minister Sheila Dixit.
The present allocation of CNG to Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) is sufficient to meet the demand of CNG vehicles that have been registered/converted up till now. But it would be difficult to supply CNG to vehicles that may register in future, he said.
IGL will double the dispensing capacity of the CNG stations in Delhi to 440,000 kilograms per day from the present capacity of around 220,000 kilograms per day by the end of September, Naik said, adding the number of CNG stations would be increased to 87 from the 74 at present by September 30, 2001.
Dixit said queues at CNG dispensing stations would vanish by September end with the installation of 14 new compressors.
