A couple from Rourkela, Orissa, has become the first lucky husband-wife duo to win Rs 10 million on the popular television quiz programme Kaun Banega Crorepati aired on Star Plus channel.

The beaming crorepati-patni were introduced to journalists at a press conference in Bombay on Friday by the show's popular host Amitabh Bachchan.

The husband, Vijay Raul an assistant manager at the Rourkela Steel Mines and his wife, Arundhati Raul, have decided to contribute a part of the prize money to the Orissa Relief Fund and invest part of it for their children's education.

The episode in which the couple won the jackpot would be beamed on May 2 and May 7, Bachchan said and added that he had never expected the couple to cross the Rs 10,000 mark.

Star Plus CEO, Peter Mukherjee, channel's vice president programming Sameer Bhatia and quiz master Siddharth Basu were among those present at the conference.
