Vajpayee to campaign in TN

Prime Minister A B Vajpayee will address a public meeting on the Marina sands on May 7, seeking support for National Democratic Alliance candidates in Tamil Nadu, DMK sources said.

The meeting will be presided over by DMK President and NDA leader in Tamil Nadu, M Karunanidhi.

The prime minister accepted the invitation of the DMK president, who made the request over the telephone on Tuesday.

A Thiruvananthapuram report said Vajpayee was expected to address an election meeting there on the same day.

Bharatiya Janata Party state vice-president P S Sreedharan Pillai told reporters that other BJP leaders, including Home Minister L K Advani, Information and Broadcasting Minister Sushma Swaraj and party president Janakrishnamurthy would tour Kerala for campaigning.

In Kerala, the BJP is contesting 124 seats and its allies on six seats in the elections considered crucial for the party, which is trying hard to have its presence in the state assembly.
