Views:I am shocked at the irrational views expressed in these columns. It is a matter of great concern that not even one percent of teh reders don't express any rational views. Throw out Bangladeshis, Pakistanis, Srilankans, Nepalis from "OUR" soil. - Probably expressed from US soil. Pity on you. Don's compare India with Israel. Israel is a nation which occupies and colonizean entire nation without any regard for International or human norms. India is built on high ideals from leaders like Gandhi, and Nehru not by frocibly evicting perople from their homes. Indian and Bangadeshi governments should sit down discuss these issues and try to find a solution so that these events don't get repeated in future.

Views:When US pilots were captured by china recently, there was a flurry of govt activities in US.US event went ot the extent of breaking trade ties with china.Thats how the US Public and Government back up their army... Compare this to the situation here in Indo-Bangla Border.15 Indian Border security Personnel had been captured, tortured to death and a day later returned to death,But there is Hush-hush all over.Iam no lover of war but this is when u take up your arms and hit them hard.Because the life of evry indian citizen is precious and no one shall be spared if they try to play games with our lives. If Bangladesh wants war-They shall have it-They should know what it takes to take an INDIAN's LIfe let alone play with it. JAI HIND Dinesh

So as a solution why not start another bus service from Delhi to Dhaka??? When will our foreign policy makers learn? For how long will we give meek reactions in return for VERBAL praises from the world's biggesst bully USA ? We have our share of SriLanka occupied TN (accept it or not)& as if, bangladeshis were not encroaching into WestBengal in enuf numbers, now a direct attack from a country so puny ! All kudos to our elected people's representatives & IAS officials & not to forget the ever hibernating Intelligence service! Go look for kickbacks! Why, pray tell me, will we still want to pay our taxes honestly? And it's only the salaried class that has to fend for the nation!

Views:What kind of super power status do we dream of achieving? Our soldiers seem to have been paraded around the way the Brits used to carry around their hunt and all our external affairs ministry seems to be able to do is to make soft clucking noises expressing regret! Who are these spineless creatures we have elected to rule our country? The self proclaimed guardians of some notional nationalistic concept with a so-called proud and independent foreign policy stand nakedly shorn of its cheap and tawdry jwellery . You are not even able to protect those meant to protect the common man. Just rhetoric won't do. What kind of policy will you influence at the world-level to ensure a free world? Maybe our honourable Home Minister could undertake a Rath Yatra to Bangladesh - that can exact a just tit-for-tat because we can be sure that a lot of people are going to die ! He would even have more masjids to demolish there!

Views:At the start of the 21st century, where globalization, harmony and community development is the state of the art of diplomacy and international relations, there is no room either politically or idelogically for border incursions, violation of human rights and touching on sovereignty. I find it beyond imagination that a country with most of the population living under poverty line and with enormous economic, environmental and social problems will have time or wish to get involved in a military show off with a neighbour who obviously has a stronger army, a more profound democracy and has maitained a peaceful relations. maybe Bangladesh Rifles forgot that only with the help of Indian army and people and government they got out of the grip of Pakistani repression. I find it deplorable that 16 hardworking common folks (BSF soldiers) was slaughtered for no point to dispute or discuss. My condolences are with their family and I find myself with no words on how to explain to their children why their fathers die, or what for?

Views:What BDR has dared to do only reflects on what Bangladesh and the world(rightly) think of India. It is not an isolated incident. Answering it militarily can only be a basic first step, however welcome. We need to introspect comprehensively; we do to ourselves daily what Bangladesh has done to us today, sometimes with bloodshed, sometimes without and always without a sense of disgust. Forgivable, for how many of us expressing our outrage here know that its WE who have allowed(or asked?) Bangladesh to venture so far. Its a cumulative process. Its more in the mind....of the Bangladeshis and....the Indians.

Views:The misadventure by the BDF has shown that any nut-sized country can hold our country to ransom. And to add to that the government is still crying about its good relations with that country. This govt. has shown it once again that they do not have the guts to respond aggressively to any such kind of situations. This shows Mr. Vajpayee is better suited to sit in the opposition benches. It looks like they are speaking on behalf of the Bangladesh. It wouldn't be a surprise if countries like Nepal or Bhutan show such kind of aggression in the future. And then also the govt. will care more about its relations with these countries rather than the caring about it's own public. I feel we should respond with a very aggressive attitude towards bangladesh. Airstrikes by IAF would have been an ideal way to show this attitude.

Views:As usual, the Indian government went into The Indian Ostrich mode while handling the humiliating and horrifying incidents on the Indo-Bangladesh border. Ostrich Step 1: The best way to avoid having to respond to a slap on your face is to call it a caress gone wrong. So, instead of blaming BDR squarely, it is hinted that our men were lynched by a mob. Ostrich Step 2: Say that it was the perpetrator’s hand that did the act and, therefore, it would be wrong to blame his heart and mind. So, blame a “renegade” BDR General and absolve Sheikh Haseena of all blame. And thus reach the heights of absurdity – the aggrieved party presenting excuses on the part of the aggressor! Of course, nobody remembers how Fernandes tried to draw a distinction between Sharif and the Pakistani Army. Well, even if this distinction could be accepted, any honourable man would at least twist the perpetrator’s arm and redeem his honour. But our worthies studiously avoid any talk of honour (they have already sold it to West End International). Ostrich Step 3: Brush everything under the carpet and bury your head in the dust (mixed metaphors, yes!). So, go through the motions of calling in some lowly Bangladeshi to administer a farcical reprimand and then declare that the matter has been handled with “restraint” (read cowardice). The two PMs are carefully kept out of the whole affair. (I am going to take a break to puke). 15th August 2001: Bhutanese forces invade India and occupy Darjeeling. Nepal re-occupies the entire state of Uttaranchal, which it had ceded to British India in the 19th century. The Pakistanis don’t even need to take over Kashmir – they are already there. The LTTE, under pressure in Jaffna, declares Chennai to be its new headquarters. The Chinese annex the North East and declare Dharamshala to be the provincial capital

Views:Once again it proves that we Indians are a nation of bikharis, cowards and good for nothing. Bangladeshis have been entering our country illegally for twenty years. They have already changed the ethnic composition of Calcutta and Meghalaya , not to mention Assam. All Indians say is what is the Govt. doing ? The question is what are you doing ? Bangladeshis are dirt bags and are muslims who think they can do what ever they want. Creeps like the Bengal state govt. run by dick-heads commies have made things worse. What are Indians going to do about it. This is already going out of control. Everybody is laughing at Indians, even beggars like Bangladeshis can kill and kick Indians.
