Views:I have a strong feeling that India have not reacted swiftly and strongly. It is a matter of great concern and strong measures like deploying army shall be taken to send a strong signal and to deter the incursion of so called "friendly" nation. Loss of lives (16 BSF personnel) and driving the Indian citizens from their homes are not the issues that shall be taken lightly. Jai Hind. Suria

Views:Agreed we have friendly relationship with Bangladesh and every thing else. However, to ensure that the morale of the BSF and the people in general does not sag, it must be ensured that the minimum reply of the incident must be given. A bare minimum response is to kill atleast 16 Bangladeshi soldiers.

Views:Dear sir, This is very high time for India to react. We have already seen how pakistan behaved why? I feel we have reacted slowly. If we had given our replay in the same manner in the early stages say in 1971 war (Though we won but the mercy shown was not treated properly). Same thing happening here also. Please look back, How India fight for the freedom for Bangladesh? If it is a friendly country as we thought as an today I feel today this incident was not occurring. Please remember this is a very high time for us to react otherwise whole glob/world will feel that we are not capable of giving replay at the right time and they will take advantage of it. Today we are growing, we are improving our technology, Sorry I am not getting any words to show my anger and put it in words. This is enough, enough and enough. With tears bhanu

We should take back the areas intruded on but must not cross the boundary. If we use force more than what is required we may have another Pakistan on our backyard i.e., hitherto a calm area.

And here we are, letting our men get shot by a puny Bangladeshi nation and we are still "talking" and trying "peaceful" means. It is amazing that not even one leader is even talking about punitive action. WHY ???

Views:What is the point in having a population of 1 Bilion, if we can not defend our Borders. Last time it happened in Kargil, now it is with Bangladesh in N-E states. Both the times, we were caught with pants down. Are we not worried about the fact that 16 of our BSF Jawans lost their lives, and till then we allowed it to happen. In China, one Pilot died and the whole nation came out in support. 16 soldiers from USA were in captivity in China for 12 days, and till they were released, the whole nation wason their toes. But, we have lost the value of a Human life. If we lose 10-15 soldiers, it is part of the game. Why do we allow it to happen ? Why can't we tell the world that we are a strong nation and they better not touch us or take liberties ? External affairs, for the time being, should be kept in cold storage, and we deal with this intrusion strongly.

See what Israel did. Take a cue. An eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth. Everytime I try to convince myself, another Muslim nation shows its true colors. It is time we do to Bangs what Pakis did (rightly) to them. Again, another pitiable episode of gross intelligence letdown. Hang the culprits for missing to notice it.

Views:Dear Sir, Isn't it a matter of shame that 18 of our men have been killed by a small neighbouring state. The value of an Indian appears to be nothing, as hundreds are being killed daily in Kashmir and in the North-East and the country carries on as usual. The present regime is clearly inexperienced in managing the defence matters. The intelligence failures during the Kargil war and the present NE intrusion clearly demonstrate the inefficiency of the Home Ministry. If we compare this with the response of China or that of the USA towards the loss of a marine, our netas come across as incompetent and inefficient. Loss of lives on account financial scandals and foreign intrusions are the result of a corrupt and an inefficient system. The BJP government deserves no sympathy and I hope that the people give them a flavour of their moods during the forthcoming state elections. Jai Hind R.S.Kannan

When your own men within the country are no freinds to INDIA, how can one expect an other country that shares your border to be freidly. Recapture the lost area after inflicting more damage to them. This is the least you can pay as homage to the 16 BSF jawans. Large chunks of the Defence Budgets are unspent. Got a clue where you have to spend?

Views:Bangladeshi intrusion into the Indian territory must be dealt with seriously. Else it will in future give complicated twist to the issue of illegal Bangladeshi immrigrants in Assam as well as other states. It is a well known fact that the demography of the state is rapidly changing owing to illegal immigrants and they are even in the verge of controlling the political scenario of the state. So far the centre has treated the issue without any serious strategy and today a country like Bangladesh has the guts to leave 16 BSF personnel dead in our own territory. In a matter of 3 or 4 more elections, it will not be surprising if the Chief Minister of Assam will be a Bangladeshi! The current Bangladeshi action should be viewed in that light. Gone are the days when we used to preach non violence all over the world and China gave us a kick in our ass. Who are to blame? All this is happening because India never have had a visionary leader. It is high time we shed our masks. Our leaders must think now how US will react if Mexico does the same to them what Bangladesh is doing now.

We must understand that a friend remains a friend till such time it respects other's territorial integrity. The moment this thin line is crossed he should be dealt with resolve and sternly. India cannot afford to open up yet another front with Bangladesh with Pak and China looming large on the northern and western fronts, but this weakness should not get exploited by Bangladesh. Thus, a very strong diplomatic reaction to start with should be resoted to, along with the talks at the paramilitary level should be resorted to.However, at no stage should India weaken its resolve and keep its military options open. Our diplomats may have to work overtime to justify such an action in the international fora. No one should take India for granted. Instead of just complaining, India should have retaliated so that such misadventures can be taken seriously by our neighbours. Whatever might be the outcome, we can never restore the lives of the people who have been killed just to gain some political mileage. I feel sad for the people who have lost their lives, and the people who have lost their dear ones. Life will never be the same for them again. I don't think any nation would think twice before doing this again to India. We should prove that we are not a force to be played around with. Whom should we blame? I think we all know.

Views:It is a shameful act by Bangladesh to capture Indian territory. The nation who got Independence just because of India is betraying it's mentor and they have forgotten the sacrifices made by India. It's high time India reacted in a strong manner and teach Bangladesh a lesson and it's high time to prevent North east from becoming another kashmir and Bangladesh supporting it. India should seal the borders with Bangladesh and cripple them economically for their misadventure and punish the Bangladesh Army and BDR.

Views:If the Bangla P.M. wants to use the current crisis to prove to her people that she is not India's "stooge" then she is mistaken. For nobody will be fooled into believing that the unwarranted aggression shown by the BDR is anything less than ISI sponsored terrorism which we condemn. India has always shown extreme support to Bangladesh and if this is the way Sheikh Hasina repays our friendship then she and her people should be severely taken to task, using gunpower if necessary. For we cannot and should not tolerate anybody inflicting harm upon our countrymen. Likewise the Indian govt. should also be chastised for its attitude in this crisis. It is outrageous to proclaim that good relations will have to be maintained with Bangladesh even at this juncture. If maintaining friendship with a neighbour, even when the neighbour is stabbing you behind your back,is the right attitude,we can only lament the spinelessness of our decision-makers in Delhi.

Views:If an American soldier would have been killed, Dhaka would have faced the wrath of 500 Missiles destroying the city ten times over, sending a clear message not to mess around again and extracting the price of an American life. But these are Indian lives, expendable, available by the tons, even if 16 of them have been killed. Time for the govt. and the opposition to call for enquiries/investigations, resignation of ministers, some more bunds and some more loss.

Views:India should retaliate with strong opposition on Bangladeshi intrusion. India helped Bangladesh in several ways for getting independence from Pakistan. India should teach a lesson to Bangladesh or any other country who does this type of intusion. Why still Indian govt officially didn't confirmed the death of 16 BSF soldiers. My prayers are with all those BSF men who died. India should teach a lesson to Bangladesh.

Views:Mind you its great to be an Indian, but sometimes one feels a bit down due to the insesitivity shown by the govt towards the life of Indians. 16 soldiers are reported to be killed. But still govt talks about restraint in dealing with situation. It is ok to be a bit tolerant towards ones smaller neighbour. But other party should also reciprocate. It can't go scott free for killing Indians. Consider the contrast between Indian killings and Israel's killings. There when even 3 soldiers are killed, its reported in BBC and CNN. Becoz there govt acts tough with those who are responsible. But in India even when 16 soliders are killed, govt still remains cool and just want to settle the matter peacefully...or rather it should be read as solve the matter bending down. When we don't kill others, we also expect the same from others. This message should be clear to all and the killers should not go scot free. Kill them also so in future nothing like this can happen.

Views:I think that we have been very low key in our response. Look at the way, the US responds to any threat to it's servicemen and territory. We should learn from them. We have been unable to remove the Bangladesh rifles from our territory let alone hitting back at their territory. The lives and property of Indian is not something which should be allowed to be struck at so easily and that also by a nation which owes it's birth to the help of India. I think India will command respect not only by showing self restraint but also by showing how powerful it is and how determined it is to respond to any threat. Hoping for a more than matching response from the Government.
