I had met him for the first and last time in January when we had the Indian Science congress in I.A.R.I and had a brief opportunity to hear and talk to him. I still remember him giving a lecture filled with jokes and I later found out what a nice person he was and how high were his dreams for Indian software industry. I sincerely pray to god to give us strength and such committment to fulfil all he had ever dreamt. I express my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and pray to god to give them the strength a a big loss.

The man knew where he was taking the Indian IT sector. Even though I am zero in software, I believe he alongwith Mr Premji, Mr Narayanmoorthy has influenced the Indian teencomp brigade. Condolence Message:Mehta's death comes at a juncture when the Indian software industry is facing a crisis for the first time. The industry is experiencing a slowdown and technology stocks are being battered on both US and Indian stock markets. The morale in the IT industry is at an all-time low. The Indian IT industry never needed Dewang Mehta more than it did now. But for a man who toiled to bring the Indian IT industry to its present form and slept for not more than four hours a day, it is a rest well-deserved. His death however has left the industry orphaned. He was a tireless worker and a wonderful person. Dewang Mehta, rest in peace.
