Ashram Express derails on Gujarat-Rajasthan border

At least five passengers were injured when the 2106 Dn Delhi-Ahmedabad Ashram Express derailed near Abu Road on the Gujarat-Rajasthan border early this morning.

The state police control room reported that the train going to Ahmedabad from Delhi derailed between Mawal in Rajasthan and Sriamirgarh in Gujarat at 0540 hrs.

Both the engines pulling the train and five coaches went off the rails in the mishap but no casualty has been reported.

The police said five passengers were, however, injured in the derailment, the cause of which has not yet been ascertained .

Senior railway and police officials have rushed to the site where efforts are being made to clear the route and restore traffic disrupted due to the accident.

The injured passengers are stated to be out of danger and have been rushed to nearby hospital, the police added.
