Hashish to be sold for arming
J&K ultras seized: PTI

A person has been arrested in Durban in connection with the smuggling of 11 tonnes of hashish from Pakistan to Canada, allegedly to fund Kashmiri militants, police said on Thursday.

The South African police Wednesday intercepted the consignment while it was passing through the port city of Durban. They suspected the illegal transportation of the drug was meant for purchase of arms and ammunition destined for Pakistan-backed militants.

Police Superintendent Bala Naidoo said the consignment worth nearly $1 billion was found in a ship which came from Karachi.

Naidoo said the ship first transported the hashish to Port Elizabeth, from where the drugs were sent to Johannesburg. In Johannesburg, it was packed into bags in a container and sent to Durban, where it was put on a ship.
