Nedumaran 'ready' for another trip

Tamil National Movement leader P Nedumaran, whose inclusion in the team of emissaries has created a controversy, has agreed to undertake another mission to the forest to negotiate with brigand Veerappan for the release of Kannada film actor Dr Rajakumar.

The claim was made by the actor's sons, who in a damage- control exercise, met separately Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, Nakkeeran editor R R Gopal besides Nedumaran, and requested them to continue their efforts to secure the release of their father.

Their meeting assumed significance in the backdrop of a controversy over the inclusion of Nedumaran in the new team of emissaries to negotiate with Veerappan with Congress president Sonia Gandhi saying that Nedumaran was not the choice of the Karnataka government.

The three sons, Shivrajkumar, Puneet Rajakumar and Raghavendra Rajakumar later told newsmen in Madras that Gopal had also assured them to undertake another mission.

However, they could not meet human rights activists Professor Kalyani and G Sukumaran, the other two emissaries of the team, as they were away in their native places.
