Munda meets Vajpayee: PTI

Two days after refusing to join the Union ministry, sulking senior Bharatiya Janata Party tribal leader Karia Munda Thursday met Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee against the backdrop of his unhappiness over not being consulted on the Jharkhand chief ministership issue.

The meeting between Vajpayee and Munda, a strong contender for Jharkhand chief ministership, lasted an hour and another round of talks between the two is expected.

Prior to the meeting, Munda met BJP vice-president Jana Krishnamurthy and conveyed his feelings over the manner in which the party had handled the Jharkhand chief ministership issue, BJP sources said.

Munda, a cabinet minister in the 13-day Vajpayee government in 1996, had refused to take oath as a minister of state at the Centre on November 7, when the Union Cabinet was expanded.
