Opposition forces LS adjournment for the day

A defiant Opposition today forced the Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker P M Sayeed to adjourn the house till tomorrow amid noisy scenes.

As soon as the house assembled, Congress members were on their feet demanding that the Gujarat government be asked to withdraw its order permitting state government employees to participate in RSS activities. On the other hand, RJD members pressed for sacking the Bihar governor for "murder of democratic norms in the state".

The Bihar issue was raised by Raghuvansh Prasad Singh and other RJD members. Some Congress members and those from the RPI rushed to the well demanding that the deputy speaker allow a discussion on the RSS issue under Rule 184 of the Rules of Procedure.

With the Opposition unrelenting in its demand, Sayeed adjourned the house till tomorrow.
