Lankan minister killed in blast

A Correspondent in Colombo

Sri Lanka's Minister of Industries Development C V Gooneratne died in a bomb blast Wednesday afternoon at Ratmalana, a Colombo suburb, as he was participating in a War Hero's Day function.

The police estimate that 26 people were killed in the explosion.

At least 50 persons were injured.
