Minister orders court of inquiry into crash

Civil Aviation Minister Sharad Yadav ordered a court of inquiry into the crash of Alliance Air Flight CD-7412 at Patna, in which about 60 people are feared to have been killed.

Briefing newsmen in New Delhi, Civil Aviation Secretary A H Jung said a sitting high court judge would conduct the inquiry.

Apart from this, a preliminary inquiry by P Shaw, controller of air safety, and another ordered by the director general of civil aviation are on, Jung said.

The aviation secretary said the preliminary inquiry would find out whether the aircraft had lost height or whether the pilot had misjudged it.
