Curfew in Rajouri after six killed by ultras

E-Mail this report to a friend

Indefinite curfew has been clamped as militants killed six people and injured seven others, including three women in Kotdwara village in Rajouri on Thursday night.

According to sources, Harkat-ul-Jehade Islami militants surrounded a house in the village at about 19:19 hours and fired at the inhabitants there, killing six on the spot and leaving seven others seriously wounded.

Taking cover in the standing crop and darkness, the militants managed to escape.

Official sources used the cliche 'tense but under control' to describe the situation, after curfew was clamped at 0430 hours on Friday. Intensive search and combing operations have been launched to nab the culprits, they added.

Those killed have been identified as Manohar Lal, Ganesh Chane, Ashoka Kumar, Vishwanath, Vishambhar, and Purushottam, while the injured women were Champa Devi, Sakshi and Indu.
