Mukhtar Ahmad in Srinagar

In a continuation of violence in the state, militants killed nine Bihari labourers in Sindhu Achabal village, in the Southern Anantnag district.

In a separate incident, reported from Kalaroos in Kupwara, militants opened fire on a house and killed all seven members of a family of a former militant, Mushtaq Ahmad Ganai.

A gang of about 10 extremists forced their entry into Ganai's house and shot him, his wife, parents, grandfather and two children, an official spokesman said.

These incidents followed the massacre of 18 Biharis earlier on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, an indefinite curfew has been imposed in all major towns of Jammu region and troops have been deployed to maintain law and order.
