E-Mail this report to a friend

The thane rural police have arrested two criminals, including a woman, in the Gulshan Kumar murder case at Deva Sharif village in Uttar Pradesh this morning.

Inspector Sopanrao Mahangade said a police team, led by deputy superintendent of police Parambir Singh, maintained vigil in the area after securing information about the couple's whereabouts and arrested Rasheed Dawood Merchant (25) and Fatima Dawood Merchant (42) at Deva Sharif village in Barabanki district of UP.

The duo, who were reported to have left India, had taken shelter in this village since the last three months. The rural police, with the help of the local Deva Kotwali police station, successfully arrested the pair early this morning, Mahangade said, adding that they also recovered a country-made six-chamber pistol. The two will be brought to Bombay by tomorrow.

Mahangade said with this arrest, they have arrested all suspects in the case barring one Rauf Raja.
