E-Mail this report to a friend

Five top Shiromani Akali Dal leaders today demanded the expulsion of Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee chief Gurcharan Singh Tohra from the primary membership of the party.

In a joint statement, they charged Tohra with injecting violence in Punjab and trying to "soak the Khalsa tricentenary celebration in blood".

The signatories to the statement were SAD vice president and agriculture minister Gurdev Singh Badal, general secretary and finance minister Capt Kanwaljit Singh, general secretary and Rajya Sabha member Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, RS member Balwinder Singh Bhunder and SAD political affairs committee member and public relations minister Sewa Singh Sekhwan.

Tohra had set up a separate stage at Anandpur Sahib in connection with the Hola Mohalla celebrations.
