Pak official disappears

E-Mail this report to a friend

An official in the Pakistan high commission in New Delhi has disappeared, a foreign ministry statement said today.

Dil Fayyaz, described as a ''staff member'' of the high commission, disappeared yesterday, the statement said.

He was last seen at the New Delhi railway station and ''since then there has been no trace of him,'' the statement said.

India's deputy high commissioner was called into the Pakistan foreign ministry earlier today to protest against Fayyaz's disappearance.

An Indian high commission spokesman, Avinash Mohananey, said that ''Indian authorities are investigating the case.''

A Pakistan high commission press release in New Delhi said it had registered a First Information Report with the police station concerned apart from having raised the matter with the Indian ministry of external affairs.
