Vajpayee lauds troops' role

E-Mail this report to a friend

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today said India would not buckle under any Pakistani aggression and would see to it that every inch of the territory occupied by armed intruders is vacated.

Addressing officials and personnel at the air force station in Srinagar, Vajpayee made a reference to yesterday's heavy shelling near the deputy commissioner's office, where he was to address people and said, '' kal mein Kargil gaya tha. Un hone tope chala kar salaami di... Hum isse apne raaste se digne wale nahin hai.'' ( ''I had been to Kargil yesterday. They greeted me with shelling. We are not going to be deterred by this.'')

He lauded the role of the Indian Air Force and the Indian Army in the operations.

''The enemy had an initial advantage as it was stationed at the higher reaches. This will not last long. Our jawans are waging a valiant battle. We are sure to win as we are fighting for a just cause,'' said the prime minister.
