'We would have preferred to die for the country'

E-Mail this report to a friend

Guru Krishnanand Bhatt, who was a passenger of the hijacked plane, tonight took strong exception to the release of three terrorists by the government to secure freedom for him and other hostages.

''We would have preferred to die for the sake of the country,'' Bhatt, who hails from the Garhwal district of Uttar Pradesh told UNI.

It was wrong on the part of the government to have succumbed to pressure from the five hijackers, he said on his arrival at the IG International Airport in New Delhi.
