E-Mail this report to a friend

The Babri Masjid demolition issue and the chargesheeting of three Union ministers in the related case forced the Lok Sabha to adjourn twice today, second time till 1400 hours.

When the House re-assembled at 1200 hours after the first adjournment, Deputy Speaker P M Sayeed, who was in the chair, appealed to members to allow the proceedings to continue.

An agitated Opposition was not willing to listen to him and they continued to press their demand for the resignation of the accused ministers.

Some non-Congress Opposition members rushed to the well of the House and insisted on their demand. When the uproarious scenes continued for five minutes, the deputy speaker adjourned the House till 1400 hours.

Earlier, when the House assembled, the entire Opposition was on its feet demanding the resignation of Home Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani, Human Resources Development Minister Murli Manohar Joshi and Minister of State for Toursim Uma Bharati as they are accused in the Babri Masjid demolition case.
