LS adjourned over Babri issue

E-Mail this report to a friend

The Lok Sabha was adjourned till 1200 hours following uproarious scenes over the Babri Masjid issue.

As soon as the House assembled for the day, the Opposition members were on their feet demanding the resignation of Home Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani, Human Resource Development Minister Murli Manohar Joshi and Minister of State for Tourism Minister Uma Bharti as they are accused in the Babri Masjid demolition case.

The non-Congress Opposition members trooped into the well amid noisy scenes forcing Speaker G M C Balayogi to adjourn the House.

Earlier the Speaker's repeated plea that the issue could be raised during zero hour failed to satisfy the agitated members.

Leader of Opposition Sonia Gandhi wanted to speak on the issue but the ruling party members objected saying it was question hour. This provoked the Congress members, who urged the Speaker that their leader should be allowed to speak.
