Wings of Fire, the autobiography of the country's much acclaimed scientist Dr A P J Abdul Kalam will hit the stands by the third week of next month.

The 212-page book talks about the life and times of Kalam, who as a young boy sold tamarind seeds and newspapers to earn pocket money in his native temple town Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu.

The paperback, priced Rs 200, contains 12 rare photographs, and reveals what went into the making of Kalam, the dreamer who converted them into realities.

It tells the story of the humble boy from the backwaters of Tamil Nadu who went on to become one of India's top nuclear scientists, as narrated by the Bharat Ratna winner to former DRDO scientist Arun Tiwari, who co-authored the book.

Published by Universities Press (India), the book is being distributed by Orient Longman.
