BJP announces candidates for council elections

The Bharatiya Janata Party has announced the candidature of Kirantai Mahalle and Pratapdada Sonavane for the Amravati and Nashik graduates constituencies in the Maharashtra legislative council election, scheduled for November 13.

The party would also extend support to Prafful Kulkarni in Aurangabad teachers constituency, Suresh Bhalerao in Konkan teachers constituency and Deepak Gokhale in Nagpur teachers constituency, BJP spokesperson Prakash Javdekar said.

For the local bodies constituencies, the state unit has recommended Dr Prakash Malgave. His candidature would be officially announced from Delhi.

The BJP's coalition partner in the state, the Shiv Sena, would contest from the Sangli-Satara and Yavatmal local bodies constituencies, Javdekar said.

The BJP would also support independents Srikant Shirole, Sharad Vani and Kisanrao Rathod from Pune, Jalgaon and Nanded local bodies constituencies respectively.
