Congress joins AIADMK in seeking TN government's dismissal

E-Mail this report to a friend

The Congress in Tamil Nadu today joined the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in demanding the dismissal of the M Karunanidhi government in the state, alleging breakdown in law and order.

Addressing the media in Madras, Tamil Nadu Congress unit president Tindivanam K Ramamurthy said his party would be prepared for a joint struggle with the AIADMK in demanding the dismissal of the state government, if necessary, in consultation with the Congress leadership.

He alleged that the communal clashes in Ramathapuram district early this month was proof of the breakdown in the constitutional machinery in the state.

Chief Minister Karunanidhi was unconcerned about maintaining law and order, he charged.

The role of the banned Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam and fundamental organisations in the clashes could not be ruled out, he said and demanded a CBI probe into the clashes.
