Sec 144 imposed in Gulbarga following communal tension

Prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC were promulgated in Gulbarga city, Karnataka, last night following tension after miscreants threw night-soil into a place of worship.

Police sources said the prohibitory orders would be in force till October 28.

Tension prevailed following reports that miscreants had thrown night-soil into a place of worship. People belonging to the offended community then gathered in strength and forced closure of shops.

Sporadic incidents of stone-throwing were also reported from some parts of the city.

The police were maintaining a strict vigil, following the incident.

The situation was tense, but under control, the sources added.
