E-Mail this report to a friend

Heart-rending scenes were witnessed at the accident site in Kauri, Punjab, the nearby civil hospital and the A S College grounds at Khanna as the dead and the injured in the worst- ever train accident in this part of the country were being brought in.

The accident between Amritsar-bound Golden Temple Mail (Frontier Mail) from Bombay and Calcutta-bound Sealdah Express trains left at least 100 dead and more than 250 injured, about 50 of them critically.

Wailing relatives were seen making anxious inquiries at the civil hospital and the A S College ground to know the fate of their kin.

Doctors and the police at these places had a tough time in controlling the surging crowd of anxious relatives.
