MP speaker set for double hat-trick

E-Mail this report to a friend

If Madhya Pradesh assembly Speaker Sriniwas Tiwari wins this assembly election, he would make a double hat-trick.

From Rewanchal, Tiwari's region that comprises 28 assembly segments, seven legislators have consecutively been elected thrice in the last 10 assembly polls.

The seven hat-trick scorers are: Ramkishore Shukla (1952-62), Shyam Katrik (1952-62), Gopal Sharana Singh (1952-67), Rumani Raman Pratap Singh (1957-67), Sriniwas Tiwari (1972-80), Arjun Singh (1977-90), and Indrajit Kumar Patel (1977-93).

During his successful run, Tiwari was declared elected from Mangawa as an independent in 1972. He, however, won the 1977 and 1980 polls under the Congress banner.

And now, he looks all set for another win.
